My Companion Cube Costume

My Halloween costume of 2008
Made from felt, Box matress and hours of sowing!.
I would like to thank TempleTiger for his big help on this, without him it would have been a cardboard box with a heart drawn on it! :)

Last year at Halloween, i chose to do something a little bit extra ordinary for my costume!.
I called up my friend who is something of a creativity Meastro. and we began plotting and planning!.

We thought about making the body from Styrofoam, but given that the cube is wider than i am over the shoulders, we needed it to be flexible. in case i fell.

The whole thing is made from very thin box mattress, which is sown together making the square seen on the picture.

Next we covered the box with a dark Grey felt fabric sown to fit the square box. Our plan was to make the four hearts around the box like four pillows, sown onto the box. therefor we made five holes in the felt and Box Mattress (four around, and one in the top for my head) the top heart we wanted to make as a little hat. :)

We then made the eight corners out of cutted box mattress, and made a lighter grey felt cover, which we sew by hand on to the darker felt. The same went for the 12 middle sections.


The Finished result was most pleasing!. it took about 20 hours to make, and won me the Best costume at the party! :)
